IN SALES BY CHOICE?

In my 20 years of sales career, I had put this question to many people who were either working in sales or came for an interview to a sales job (I asked myself too 😉

Here are some of the interesting replies I received.

  • I like to sell because I like connecting and talking to people
  • I can have unlimited income in sales in the form of incentives
  • I can have flexible work schedule unlike a desk job which finds me boring.
  • I like to influence people. Sales gives me an opportunity to influence people to buy some product or service and this meets my self-esteem and makes me happy.

  • While I wanted to be in marketing, my campus placements have left only sales jobs as a choice for me.
  • I first want to be in client facing role like sales and then I will move to marketing which is my core interest.

This is even more interesting….

  • I have no job. Until I find a job of my choice, I will do sales job.

Believe me, whatever may be the reason for one to be in sales, it’ important to make it as a choice and give their best. Sales & Salesguys are the oxygen for any business. There could be best of the products but without someone choosing it to sell, choosing to influence people and satisfying their self esteem, businesses remain mere products and will not turn into revenue engines.
